Ephraim Shores Door County bike trails

Ephraim Shores Resort is a great home base for your next cycling trip

One of the best ways to get around Door County is on two wheels! Ephraim Shores Resort is the perfect place to land after a long day of pedaling through some of the many scenic Door County bike trails. There are miles and miles of bike-friendly trails with incredible views of shorelines, forests, bluffs, and meadows — and that’s just the start of what the peninsula has in store.

Don’t have a bike — or don’t want to haul it to Door County? No problem! There are plenty of places where you can rent e-bikes, hybrids, fat tire bikes, and more — as well as helmets and anything else you might need. We also have bikes at Ephraim Shores for our guests to use during their vacation.

There are Door County bike trails for every level of cyclist

Whether you want to go on a leisurely family bike ride or take on more intense terrain, there are Door County bike trails to fit your needs.

  • Peninsula State Park: Just a three-minute drive from Ephraim Shores Resort, Peninsula State Park has Door County bike trails for the entire family. The Sunset Bike Route is most popular, with nearly 10 miles of flat, fine gravel that accommodates not only bikes, but also wheelchairs and hikers. Experienced off-road bikers can also explore 12 miles of rugged, unsurfaced terrain in the Park’s interior. Or, if e-bikes are more your speed, you’re welcome to explore Peninsula State Park by way of an e-bike tour.
  • Newport State Park: Newport State Park — located approximately 14 miles from the resort — has multiple trails, including the seven-mile Europe Bay/Hotz loop trail which surrounds inland Europe Lake. There’s also a five-mile Newport loop trail and the four-mile Rowley’s Bay loop trail, but beware that these are some of the rockiest and challenging Door County bike trails.
  • Whitefish Dunes State Park: 17 miles from the resort, Whitefish Dunes State Park has a few designated bike trails. The trails are typically busy, but the reward is incredible views of the sand dunes and forest. Note: biking is not allowed on the hiking trails, beaches, or dunes.
  • Ahnapee State Trail: Less than 30 miles away from Ephraim Shores, the Ahnapee State Trail has 48 miles of scenic trails that take you through two towns, beautiful wooded areas, and open stretches of farmland — not to mention that it connects to a segment of the famed Ice Age Trail.
  • Potawatomi State Park: Approximately 30 miles away from the resort, Potawatomi State Park allows visitors to bike on any of the roads in the park. In addition, they have about eight miles of winding, off-road bike trails of varying terrain.

There are also plenty of “Bicycle Tourism Loops” in Southern, Central, and Northern Door for you to explore!

Ephraim Shores Resort is the ideal Ephraim lodging location that allows you to take advantage of Door County’s cycling season! Our pool and hot tub are a great place to relax and recover after a day on your favorite Door County bike trails.
